We're O.B.S.E.S.S.E.D with.........SPELLING CITY!

Oh.my.word! My class is obsessed with http://www.spellingcity.com
Have you tried it out with your class??? I started www.spellingcity.com last year. I inputted all the words from our series (Reading Street) as soon as I discovered this gem. This has increased my spelling scores like you wouldn't believe!
I get great comments from all the parents about this site! They love having this option for their children to practice their weekly spelling & vocab words. I was so surprised the first time we logged in together. I thought it was going to be much more painful than it was...but it went pretty smooth.
The site is easy for my little nuggets to navigate & find what they need. I gave them the following picture/text directions & they did fabulous!
These are the directions we used when we had the free membership.
These are the directions we use for the premium membership.

I sent these directions home & the parents were so thankful. You just never know how tech savvy your students or parents are....better safe than......getting too many techy ?'s.

What is the difference you ask??????

Stop by http://www.spellingcity.com and check it out. I am so grateful to www.spellingcity.com for allowing me to review their fabulous product & offering such an amazing experience for my students.

  2. A wonderful review of a really sweet site. Can I add my two cents?

    1. You could actually give the URL of your teacher or school home page. I think it would be:
    school: http://www.spellingcity.com/protsman-elementary-school-dyer-in.html
    teacher: http://www.spellingcity.com/melissadillard/

    2. Although the URL did not change, the site was renamed VocabularySpellingCity to emphasize the breadth of the offering.

    3. My students’ favorites games:

    Unscramble,
Hangman(HangMouse), Crossword Puzzle, WordSearch, and Word-O-Rama Game Show.

    OK, that was three cents!

  3. We also suggest that you look at www.zoowhiz.com. ZooWhiz is our new, FREE online learning system for kids aged 5 - 15 that is proving to be very popular with kids, teachers and parents. It’s loads of fun and very educational

  4. I love Spelling City too! I used it last year by choosing a list from someone else for students to use, but then if they closed out I had to open it back up, etc. This year I signed up for the free version and it is so much easier to pull up our words and games. :-)

  5. It is certainly a great tool! I am a fellow TBTS member and I wanted to come introduce myself. I am looking forward to chatting with you and learning a lot from all the other teachers that have the same goal with their blog!

  8. Anyone used this site to test the kids? I would like to use this feature in place of weekly spelling tests, just trying to figure it out logistically.
