If your class is anything like mine then you have several Mr. Messy's in your room too! It's really hard for my kiddos to go from tables to desks & this transition is a bit frustrating but it's our job to help them stay organized. Nothing drives me more nuts when I am tripping over paper & crayons all day. I also just love when I have desk check & make them empty their desks & piles of papers fall out. Hmm I want to say "And where were you when the WHOLE class put their graded paper in their folder?" Lots of these little nuggets are used to someone at home that starts with the letter "M" doing EVERYTHING for them & it's apparent when they start first grade. To alleviate the stress on me & to help them stay organized the "Clean Deskerella" or "Messy Deskeralla" visits a few times a week when they are gone...WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. I try to keep track of this so I don't keep giving the same students coupons. When the "Clean Deskerlla" visits she will sprinkle glitter on their desk, leave a coupon, a BIG WARM FUZZIE, and & piece of candy. I only do a few students one to two times per week. I have the "desk inspector" check desks each Friday but I was figuring out that certain ones were only cleaning their desk on Friday & it was a mess all week. So I came up with the following.
Desk Fairy Sign (please pin)
Clean Desk Fairy Coupons (please pin)
Messy Desk Fairy Coupons (please pin)
With all the cuts in our budget, rumor has it our printer ink might get cut down to one a semester. I use a ton of ink, mostly at home, but seriously??? Anyway, I used mostly black for the coupons so they can be copied over and over.
